The honest players of Call of Duty: Warzone sadly have another thing, or rather cheat, coming. This time, it’s not just about the PC players, but also the console ones.
While many have been celebrating the victory of their fellow brethren over a hacker in Call of Duty: Warzone, the same game has simultaneously been invaded by yet another hack. The original news comes from the popular anti-cheat Twitter police page, which goes by Anti-Cheat Police Department. Very aptly donning the avatar of Cypher from Valorant, this not-for-profit page or group has tasked itself with detecting cheats and hackers present in online games, especially Call of Duty, Valorant, and Apex Legends. This tweet came through on the 5th of July:

The video essentially highlights this new hacking system. In layman’s terms, the new hacking system in Call of Duty: Warzone works similar to the traditional auto-aim or aim-assist but with Machine Learning algorithms attached. What this does is enable the hacker to get kills simply by hovering around an enemy. The algorithm feeds information to the controller. When it came to auto-aim, you had to at least aim close enough for it to work. But here, the system will do everything for you. Moreover, the hacking system is robust enough to follow enemies for a while as they run, as shown in the video at around the 1:10 mark. A hacker with basic map awareness can easily wreak havoc on any Call of Duty: Warzone map.
To make matters worse is the fact that this particular hacking system has made its way to consoles. While it is relatively manageable for players to handle hackers on PC, the same is not true for consoles. According to Anti-Cheat Police Detection, though hacking has been around on consoles as well, it hasn’t been as popular as it is now. Not to mention the amount of tracking and work the Call of Duty: Warzone development team has to go through just to set things right again.
The hacking system is obviously neither foolproof nor completely invisible. However, it will still put a dent on Call of Duty: Warzone and further deter players from spending time online, whether on PC or console. The Call of Duty development team has been highly active and serious regarding hackers, consistently banning shady accounts. This hack has been exposed very recently by Anti-Cheat Police Department, so Call of Duty players can expect some official update on this in a few days.
