A lot of video games are famous for their cross-overs, with Mortal Kombat and Fortnite probably being the best examples at the moment. Call of Duty, however, isn’t usually known for featuring characters from other franchises. Well, that’s soon going to change if a recent tweet from the official COD account is anything to go by. At first, the tweet looks pretty cryptic and doesn’t seem to reveal much. However, upon closer inspection, there are a number of clues that indicate a potential Rambo cross-over might be imminent.
Let’s break things down bit by bit. The 5 games played part indicates the 5 Rambo movies released between 1982 and 2019. 7 hours played is roughly equal to the total combined runtime of all the movies, which comes in at about 7.8 hours to be more specific. Meanwhile, 552 kills are said to be John Rambo’s total body count across the franchise. Finally, the K/D ratio is pretty self-explanatory.
Of course, the biggest clue is probably this part: “SURVIVORJOHN#1009062”. Survivor John clearly refers to the fictional John Rambo but we’re not really sure what the numbers represent. They could mean nothing or they could be hinting at a potential release date or other important information. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Call of Duty: Warzone hasn’t featured any officially licensed Operators in the past, so this could be an important milestone for the popular Battle Royale. Given that the new Verdansk map takes place in the 1980s, it would make perfect sense to go with one of the biggest action icons of the 80s as the first cross-over character.
Rambo made his way to Mortal Kombat 11 just last year as a playable character and was voiced by Sylvester Stallone himself. If Netherrealm Studios somehow managed to make the character not feel out of place in a fighting game, it’s safe to say Raven Software can do it too. In fact, it would make a lot more sense to have Rambo in an action shooter. After all, action and shooting are the two things Rambo is best at.
